If you'd asked me this last week, the answer would have been Turning Tables by Adele.  More than once I got funny looks on the train for inadvertently singing along to my i-Pod (specifically at the "...turning tabllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllles..." bit towards the end. ;-)

This week?  I'm hooked on Lady Gaga's Judas.  I didn't realise how much I've been humming it until my 4-year old walks past me singing "Ju-DAS! Juda-AH-AH...Ju-DAS! Juda-AH-AH..."

And it's made even worse by the fact that I used to dance and cannot stay still whenever I hear a beat.  So if you walk past a crazy lady on her i-Pod snapping her fingers and choreographing moves on the street...it's probably me. :-/

I can't choose just one.  How could I?

Where to start?  Here we go...

For the Video/Dances:

1. Thriller
.  There's not a soul over the age of 5 that doesn't know at least one or two steps from the Thriller Zombie routine!

2. Smooth Criminal
.  People debated for years on whether the 'Anti-Gravity Lean' was real or wire-assisted.  And everyone I know tried it and instantly fell over, myself included!  Good times...

3. Remember the Time: The Egyptian themed video was very opulent and regal, and the group dance remains one of my favourites to this day.

4. Bad
.  The ultimate cheesefest.  The concept of the video was so 'Bad' (heh!) it was good!  Michael Jackson, pale as a sheet, as your everyday, badass LA gang member...yeah, right! *snickers*  That one's always good for a chuckle.  And last but not least...

5. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
.  It wasn't much of a video as videos go...it was typical, late 70's stuff, with Michael dancing in his own, inimitable style against a background of swirly, phototrick images.  But by Zod, this was when Michael Jackson was at his finest.  He was pre-surgery, had all his own hair, and he was drop-dead gorgeous.  He was tall, dark and handsome, and I fell head over heels in love with him from the moment I saw it.

I was five at the time.

For the Music:

1. Give In To Me
, and

2. Dirty Diana
- both of which feature the ever-awesome Slash on guitar.

3. Billie Jean
- for it's awesome, easily recognisable 8-beat baseline (which you all started surreptitiously humming!)

4. You Wanna Be Startin' Something - another one with a beat that just sticks in your craw and doesn't let up!

For The Lyrics:

1. Man in the Mirror
-  Beautifully introspective.  I think this must be almost everyone's favourite.

2. I'll Be There - the honesty in his young voice was so touching, as were the words he was singing.

3. Have You Seen My Childhood
- Some lines from that song made my heart ache for the sad, lonely child he must have been:

Before you judge me
Try hard to love me
The painful youth I've had...

*sigh*

Farewell, Michael.  You're gone, but not forgotten.

[Error: unknown template qotd]I love Spanish.  I could listen to it all day.  My favourite Spanish phrase is 'Te amo' (I love you), also 'Te quiero', though 'te amo' is supposedly deeper than 'te quiero,' more passionate.

Also love 'sayonara', Japanese for farewell/goodbye.

My name as you all must have guessed, is DeeDee.  When I was 11 years old and in boardng school, I made friends with a crazy, madcap girl named Doris.  We couldn't have been more different; she was tall, lean & mouthy, and I was short, chubby and introverted.  But we got on like a house on fire, and 25 years later we're still best friends.

Initially, we were known as Big D and Little D, but as time went on it somehow morphed into LadyDee and BabyDee.  And it stuck.  Personally, I think I got the cuter name, but that's just me. :)

[Error: unknown template qotd]I never read "The Giving Tree".  I did, however, used to Enjoy Enid Blyton's books as a child, and when I got pregnant one of the first things I did was go looking for her books.  I bought a few of the Noddy ones, but on re-reading them was horrified to see how she racially profiled the golliwogs as violent criminals.  She had them moving around in gangs, constantly referred to their 'dark, dark faces,' and in one chapter actually had a bunch of them ambush and attack Noddy in the woods.  As a black woman who'd just been told she was expecting a son (and was chock full of hormones), I was disturbed to think that children are being fed this information and are growing up with the mindset that they are likely to be attacked by anyone with dark skin.

Needless to say, I returned the books, and have been extremely selective in choosing reading materials for my boys.  But it's still something that gets me thinking now and again.

Me & a fictional character of my choice?  Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow from Smallville.  No question.  He played a starring role in several of my raunchy pregnancy dreams, so I already have an expectation of how er...steamy things can be!

Failing that, there's always Smallville's Lex Luthor.  He's just badass & sexy from head to toe.  Yowza!

Yeah, I like my Smallville boys, I do!

The worst job I ever had was being a door-to-door salesgirl when I was just out of school.  What was I selling? Taekwondo Self Defence Club membership!  In WINTER!  Purely on commission, and I never sold a single membership.  Clearly the worst job I ever did.

Needless to say, I quit after a day!
