I’m very pleased with my fic progress over the last few months.  Nineteen updates!  Two brand-new multi-chapter stories!  I am a little disappointed that I only worked on two of my four WIPS, though.  All The Way and The Fallen Sky have been sorely neglected, and unfortunately are likely to remain without an update for at least another month while I go on hiatus to work on my Smallvillebbang fics.  But once I’ve made significant progress with the SVBB stories and gotten them to official First Draft length, I’ll update both ATW and TFS at least once.  My apologies to everyone waiting for updates on those particular fics; I hope y’all can forgive me. :-(

I was, however, very successful in getting one of my charity stories off the ground and into the air in one fell swoop!  Pillow Talksies, the next instalment in my Chlollie Funsies series, pretty much forced its way out of me in less than a week.  I love it when the Muses cooperate!  And my Chlollie Muse is my favourite, because she’s particularly productive once she takes hold.  :-P

Crisis gets the usual 5-chapter update treatment, and considering how difficult the subject matter of it is, I’m very happy with how it’s turning out.  However, as the general tune of the story shifts from angst/hurt to healing/hope, I’ve made the decision to divide the story into two separate parts to reflect that.  The next Crisis chapter purge should bring us to the end of Part I, after which I’ll commence with Crisis II - The Healing.  Rest assured, it’s still the same story and will pick up right where Crisis I leaves off.  But at 71,ooo words and counting, I think it’s long enough to stand on its own feet, especially since The Healing is likely to be just as long. Still soooo much work to be done to repair that fragile relationship.  :-/

Orchestrato’s doing well; I really feel like I’m cooking on gas with that one, and I love that I’m getting comfortable writing this new ship.  And Chlexers are amazing and just so supportive!  It really is a joy to make new friends via fanfic (and bask in the love of the old ones, too!)

Work on my Big Bangs has been steady, but because I was distracted with other updates I’m lagging behind in one of them and have a real job to catch up in time for posting.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed and fervently praying that I get two posting slots close to the end, like I did with Agenda.  It would make all the difference.  Indeed, at this point it would make all the difference, as I still have so much to do on them.  But I’m confident I can pull it off as long as I keep my nose to the grindstone, and since I’m writing for two different ships, I’m unlikely to get bored. 

As usual, if the Muses start to nag me I’ll either update one of the WIPs I currently have on the go, or pen a pretty oneshot, so it’s a win-win. :-P

I haven’t written as much as I’d like to have for the last couple of months; real life has been, to say the least, challenging.  But we’re all happy, healthy and good, and that’s fine for now. :-)

So I finally got Orchestrato, my first Chlex fic, off the ground, yay! :-) It’s been very well-received, and I am now champing at the bit to crank out the next update.  I hope to do a chapter-update of all my WIPs over the next four weeks whilst at the same time quietly working on my two (two!) smallvillebbang stories which will both be posted in their entirety by the end of the year.  From the look of things, neither of them should be as long as Agenda was…but then, I didn’t think Agenda would go beyond 25K words, and I ended up with twice that amount and then some.  So we’ll see.  Mari2anne can well attest to my inability to keep to fic length projections. ;-)

I know in my earlier updates post I’d listed Reanimation as my second Big Bang fic…yah, that’s all changed.  It’s still a Chlark fic, but it’s now one called Undercover Lover. 

Undercover Lover was a surprise for me.  It all started from an amazing banner given to me as a gift from the lovely purple_moon123, and it told a story all its own.  Then I got an amazing prompt from the secret_chlark entries which dovedtailed and fitted the banner idea quite nicely, so I started writing it - and then about a week to secret_chlark completion, I realised I was already about 10K words into it, but I wasn’t going to be able to to do it justice the way it deserved.  So I took the decision to temporarily shelve Reanimation in favour of Undercover Lover for smallvillebbang 2012 because UCL has the benefit of already been more than halfway completed!  Never fear, though; Reanimation will still definitely get written, just not this year. 

I have my betas for both Disintegration and Undercover Lover, so we’re good to go for the Big Bang!  I’m so excited for Disintegration; it’s been a long time since I worked on my original Chlollie series, so it requires both a major re-read and a complete review of Season 8.  Not the most robust of Chlollie seasons, but by the time I’m done with it, you’ll have a whole different view of that entirely!

Somewhere in the middle of all the above, I will definitely write the two Chlollie shorts I promised sweet_jesus1 ages ago, and then I have Beauty in the Breakdown X: Snow Angel which is clawing at my insides to be written.  How I’ll get them all done, I don’t know, but patience is always the key with me. :)

So I’m back up to 4 WIPs, but I needed to work on something other than Chlark.  And my Chlollie Muse was on the verge of walking out on me in a huff, so I shall be appeasing her greatly over the next few months. :) *grins* 

That said, both my Chlark & Chlollie Idea Factories are in full swing, and having updated all 4 WIPs above (and written two oneshots, to boot), I will very soon be commencing my first Chlex fic for the lovely kitmerlot1213, who has been so patient with me on this. YAY!!!  I will probably update all stories again first (apart from Crisis) then post the first chapter of Orchestrato, then return to Crisis for its 5-chapter run as usual. So I’ll be back up to 5 WIPs again, but I hope to manage them better this time. :)

As predicted, Living Life jumped the queue and is fast writing itself.  Fortunately it should be done in 4 chapters (hah!), and then I can return to the Funsies-verse for sweet_jesus1 with Pillow Talksies. 

I haven’t forgotten Disintegration, but I am reluctant to add another long WIP to the 4 that I will have on the go by then (Living Life will be finished but Orchestrato is likely to run a bit long).  What I’m thinking of doing is making Disintegration my next smallvillebbang fic, so it will all be ready to post in one go.  I may change my mind and post as I go along, but we’ll see.  Whatever the case, it’s getting written this year.  Y’all have been more than patient with me, and thank you so much for being so sweet and understanding. :)

It feels so good to have just 3 WIPs instead of 5. *grins*  My Chlark Muse is in full swing, and all three WIPs will be updated at least once before I even begin to put pen to paper on any of the other projects.  That said, my Chlollie Muse is clawing at me for attention, and I have my first Chlex fic all framed out nicely, so once I’ve shown some lurve to my neglected WIPs, I’ll be adding two more to the bunch. *sigh* 

Orchestrato is definitely going to be started soon, and even though I should get back to the Chlollie Funsies Series, the BITB Series is the one that seems to be jumping the queue and writing itself out of me the fastest.  So I’ll probably do Living Life next.  Probably. :-)

That said, Disintegrations is waaaaaay overdue.  I’m reluctant to start it because it’s going to go on for aaaages, and the last thing I want is another long WIP…but it’s the one with the most requests, so we’ll see.

Re: the other WIPs, I have a few half-written chapters here and there both by hand and on my laptop but my laptop died suddenly and is currently being repaired by The Geek/Tech Squad. Scratch that.  My laptop’s BACK, and all my data was preserved, whoo-hoo!!! :-D  I will, howeve,r tackle the smaller projects first to get them off the table quickly, aka Gravity & Peach Bikini.
