Hi All,

Follow-on post from yesterday.

Things are a lot calmer in London today. Had a quiet night and an easy journey into work, no sign of dodgy characters on the way.  One of my colleagues did sit opposite a looter on her train home yesterday; dude had a brand new iPhone, trainers and several other items in shopping bags.  He sat there grinning - bold as brass, no shame or remorse...nothing.  My colleague said she was disgusted, but wasn’t ready to confront an obvious thug and get a fat lip for her trouble, so she kept her thoughts to herself. 

So London’s quiet, but unfortunately the violence and looting appears to have kicked off in other places, resulting in loss of life and tons of injuries, not to mention the loss of livelihood and the cost to rebuild the shattered communities.  Some people have lost everything they own to this madness.

I pray it all stops soon, but for some families life will never be the same again.

I had the best week ever.

Between my baby's birthday on Monday, my birthday on Tuesday, watching Green Lantern on Saturday with the siblings & spouses, and Father's Day lunch with the kids on Sunday, everything was just a blast. 

But the icing on the cake was the birthday greetings and wishes which were peppered through the entire week from all of you, and which were still coming in as at yesterday.  I cannot begin to thank you all enough for the wonderful week you've all given me, and for making me feel so special.  I have such amazing friends!

First of all, many happy returns to my Birthday Maties, moonstar_sfu and red_81.  Y’all couldn’t have picked a better day to be born on. :-)
