“Have you packed enough diapers?”
Lois smiled at her cousin as they sorted out Kallie’s bags in the nursery. “If I run out, I’ll just pop down to the store and re-stock.”
“Okay.” Chloe went to Kallie’s dresser and started hunting around. “Don’t forget the First Aid kit. It’s-”
“Already in the baby bag.”
“Oh. Right.” Chloe bent to stroke Kallie’s hair and was rewarded with a bright smile from her daughter. “For breakfast she likes-”
“Wholegrain cereal, and for dinner she prefers the chicken casserole,” finished Lois. “Her favourite dessert is apple pie and custard, and she doesn’t sleep without her mini-Shelby.” She took a step forward. “Chloe, you can relax. She’s going to be fine with Jimmy and me.”
Chloe sighed. “I know, Lois, I just…”
“You’ve never spent a night away from her, I know,” said Lois gently. “But you and Clark deserve a proper honeymoon, and you’ll only be gone a week. She’ll be fine. We’ll take excellent care of her. And Jimmy’s gonna go crazy with the camera. Think of the gigabytes of baby pictures you’ll come home to.”
Chloe picked up her child and cuddled her close. “I bet she’ll have the time of her life. I’m the one that’s going to be a mess,” she said ruefully.
Lois grinned evilly. “Oh, don’t you worry. I’m sure
Chloe laughed, then her expression became serious. “Are you sure you can handle Kallie for the entire week? Not to be judgemental, but you’ve never really looked after a baby before. We could always ask
Lois shook her head. “I’m sure. And until a few months ago, you’d never looked after a baby either. Not to mention I did my fair share of looking after you and Lucy when you were little.” She sighed. “And besides, I need all the practice I can get.”
“Oh, motherhood is pretty much a ‘learn-on-the-job’ thing,” Chloe said as she zipped up Kallie’s bag. “You wouldn’t believe how many times I freaked out when-” she stopped, her brain finally processing Lois’s last comment.
“Lois, are you…?” her eyes narrowed as her gaze dropped to her cousin’s midriff.
Lois smiled shyly, placing a tentative hand on her belly. “It’s early days yet, but-”
“Oh my God!” Chloe rushed over and gathered her cousin close in a hug. “Congratulations! I can’t believe it! Are you feeling alright? How far along are you?”
“I feel fine, and it’s just been a couple of months,” she replied happily.
“Jimmy must be over the moon! Oh, I can’t wait to tell
“I think Jimmy’s telling him as we speak,” beamed Lois.
***
“That’s awesome! Congratulations!” said
“Thanks, CK,” Jimmy said, grinning. “Baby’s due in the fall. Lois and I are so excited.”
“You’ll make a great father,”
He smiled. “I’m looking forward to it, she’s a lovely little girl. Speaking of Kallie, does she have any…special needs that I need to be aware of?”
Jimmy nodded thoughtfully. “Okay. I just want you to know that she’ll be safe with us, Clark. I won’t let anything happen to her.”
“Thanks, Jimmy. I appreciate it.”
“Congratulations,” he said hugging her. He adopted a mock mobster voice and added with a rasp, “I hope your first child is a masculine child.”
She shoved him playfully in the shoulder. “And there I was thinking you were a man of the new millennium,” she retorted. “No worries – you have a houseful of girls. I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll show you the way of the future.”
Jimmy’s arm went around Lois’s waist and they shared a loving look. “We’re happy either way, but a little girl would be nice” he said. “Kallie’s set a good precedent.”
“Hmm.”
“Thanks, Smallville.” Lois looked at her watch. “I hate to hurry you up, but if you two don’t get a move on, you’re gonna miss your flight,” she pointed out.
“True.”
“Take care of my baby,” she said emotionally.
“I’ll protect her with my life,” said Jimmy honestly. “You can trust me.”
***
“I think Jimmy knows your secret,” Chloe said.
He frowned. “What makes you think that?” he asked as he finished off a particularly tasty pineapple dessert.
She shrugged. “Just some of the things he said. Reminded me of the time I thought you were a meteor freak but didn’t want to confront you about it.”
“What did he say?”
“Well, for starters, when he was taking my pictures at the wedding, he made a comment about being a perfect Red-Blue Bride.”
His eyes widened. “Whoa. That explains it.”
“Explains what?”
“When I was waiting for you to come down the aisle, he mentioned that you looked exactly like the woman I should be getting married to. And before we left, he asked if Kallie had any ‘special needs’.” He put his fork down and rested his chin on his hands thoughtfully.
“He thought she might have your abilities,” Chloe mused. He nodded.
She looked at him intently. “What are you gonna do,
He looked up at her. “When we get back, I’m going to tell him the truth. Lois as well.”
“Are you sure?” she asked calmly.
He nodded, smiling. “Something tells me they can be trusted.”
Chloe smiled back. “I’m glad. I felt terrible lying to him before. And Lois has proved loyal to Ollie’s secret, so handling yours should be easy pickings for her.”
He grinned lazily. “Speaking of easy pickings…” he supersped over to where she was seated, swept her up in his arms and whooshed over to the plush bedroom in one swift move.
He deposited her on the bed and settled himself over her. “Didn’t you say something about honouring me with your body yesterday?”
“I did indeed,” she purred sexily, burrowing her fingers through his hair. “And I recall you saying something eerily similar to me.”
“I believe my exact words were, ‘with my body, I thee worship’,” he murmured against her throat.
“I like that. It makes me feel like a goddess.” She trailed her fingers lightly down his chest, making him shiver. “But before you head for the altar, could I ask a tiny favour?”
“For you, my heart, I’d turn back time,” he said solemnly.
“Can I just call Lois & Jimmy for a minute? I want to check on Kallie.”
“I’ll do you one better.” He cocked his head slightly and activated his superhearing. Then he grinned.
Chloe relaxed. “I take it she’s okay?” she queried.
“Kallie’s fine. It’s Lois I’m worried about.”
“Lois?”
He nodded. “Sounds like Kallie just introduced her auntie’s thumb to her two lower front teeth.”
“Ouch!” Chloe laughed. “I still can’t believe Lois is gonna be a Mom. I mean, babysitting is one thing, but actually having your own kid is a real life-changer.” She rested her head on his chest. “Lois and Jimmy are really gonna have their hands full.”
“True. And those hands are gonna be fuller than they think,” he said with a wry grin.
She sat up at his conspiratorial tone and fixed him with a stern look. “
He looked sheepish. “I x-rayed her. They’re having twins.”
“Eek!” she screeched. “I don’t believe it!”
“And that’s not all,” he added.
Her eyes widened till they looked like little saucers. “There’s more?”
He nodded. “I could be wrong…but I think they’re boys.”
“Ha!” she exclaimed. “Lois is going to freak when she finds out! She and Jimmy had better enjoy the relative peace and quiet while they still can!”
“Speaking of relative peace and quiet,” he chuckled, “I heard that this resort is home to one of the most exclusive beaches in
She raised her eyebrows. “Oh, did you, now?” she drawled seductively.
He smiled, a twinkle in his eyes. “Yeah, it’s supposedly the prefect atmosphere for romance and relaxation.” He picked her up and headed for the balcony. “What do you say, Chloe? Should we check it out?”
“Romance and relaxation, huh?” she mused. “Why do I get the feeling there won’t be too much ‘relaxation’ going on?”
He grinned as he carried her in his arms and floated off the balcony. “Because we’ll be too busy ‘worshipping’ each other, I think. But hey, what do I know?”

The End.

Date: 2009-05-10 05:06 pm (UTC)My sentiments exactly! Sort of a mixed blessing, isn't it? :-/
"A perfect ending for a perfect story."
Thank you. I'm glad you think so, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
"Congratulations to JLo for the twins, I hope that they're very happy."
Oh, they will be. I can't pass up a chance to write 'The Olsen Twins' now, can I?!? Futurefic, here we come! :-D
"Thanks so much for taking the time to write this story, and taking me to a world where Chlark finally realize what they mean to one another."
You're welcome. Heck, if PS3 won't do it...! :-P
"Hopeful we'll get another story soon? *Uses puppy dog eyes* I loved every minute of it."
I'm a sucker for puppy dog eyes! And I'd be honoured to write for you again.
Thanks for all your lovely comments!

Date: 2009-05-08 06:38 pm (UTC)I knew there was something odd about Jimmy's remark in the last chapter! I should have put two and two together back then, but you were very subtle about it. It makes sense that he would figure out that RBB = Clark with his photographer's eye, since of course those are Clark's favorite colors, too. I give him credit for not spilling the beans to Lois without permission (just as Lois protected Ollie's secret). Dare I say it--you've actually made Jimmy likeable again. *Boggles*
I love it that Clark was so impatient to get started "worshipping" that he short-cut Chloe's phone call and peeked at Kallie and Lois. (And--hee!--I can just see Lois and Jimmy chasing after twin boys! THAT's what I call poetic justice. *BG*)
Eeee, floating Chlark! And a beach! *Melts* What a perfect ending. If only the show would end this way, too. :)
Now, will there be a sequel? *Raises brows hopefully* :D
Thank you again, Dee, for bringing us such wonderful romantic Chlark!

"I knew there was something odd about Jimmy's remark in the last chapter! I should have put two and two together back then, but you were very subtle about it."
Nice catch! I thought maybe I was a bit TOO subtle, but a few of you seem to have picked up on it, so that's cool.
"It makes sense that he would figure out that RBB = Clark with his photographer's eye, since of course those are Clark's favorite colors, too. I give him credit for not spilling the beans to Lois without permission (just as Lois protected Ollie's secret). Dare I say it--you've actually made Jimmy likeable again. *Boggles*"
Hee! It was the least I could do for the guy after giving him a tiny winkie. That aside, I actually felt bad for him in Identity when he told Clark he could be trusted, and was shot down by both him and Chloe. Go Jimmy!
"I can just see Lois and Jimmy chasing after twin boys! THAT's what I call poetic justice. *BG*"
Ha! The Olsen Twins will be popping up in some futurefics, I kid you not!!! :-P
"Now, will there be a sequel? *Raises brows hopefully* :D"
Wait and see, you never know! :)
"Thank you again, Dee, for bringing us such wonderful romantic Chlark!"
You're welcome anytime! And thanks for your comments, they have made me squee and inspired me no end. Thanks again! *hugs*

Date: 2009-05-09 06:53 pm (UTC)Ah, and you answered the question I had from Ch25; silly of me, I didn't get it right away!
So sad this tale has ended; enjoyed every chapter. Would love a peek into the near future of Clark revealing his secret to Lois and Jimmy...
I'm so greedy! You've spent so much time and talent sharing this story with us...I'll just say "THANK YOU" and that I look forward to reading when you write more...

Date: 2009-05-11 04:42 pm (UTC)The perfect end to a fantastic story, Dee! Take a bow!
"“Congratulations,” he said hugging her. He adopted a mock mobster voice and added with a rasp, “I hope your first child is a masculine child.”
That had me rolling. I always miss those lighthearted moments where Clark shows off his sense of goofiness. :-)
But this made me laugh so hard my kid came running to make sure I was okay:
“I x-rayed her. They’re having twins.”
HA!!!!! Oh my sides. Just the thought of Jois twin boys running around, freaking out their parents is an image that is just too delicious.
I worship this ending, Dee! You did a tremendous job. :-D

Gotta lurve The Godfather! ;-) I had to throw a movie quote in there somewhere. And it turns out Clark was doubly correct!
:-P

Date: 2009-05-13 07:29 pm (UTC)"This had a wonderful arch, full of great dialog that was very true to the characterizations."
Thank you! I didn't think this fic would be more than 15 chapters, but with Chlark the dialogue just writes itself. I often ended up splitting chapters into two because the posts were longer than LJ allows!
"Kallie sounds absolutely adorable."
A Chlark baby girl with her daddy's super good looks...what's not to love? :)
"There are places that I got scared (I thought Chloe was actually being tortured cause she had been captured!!)..."
*sheepish* That was cruel of me, wasn't it? I wanted to try my hand at angst, and also see if the shock reveal of Chloe's pregnancy would work. I'm pleased to see that it did! :)
"choked up (when Chlark said goodbye on the train platform and again when Clark sped into the delivery room)..."
The platform goodbye even made ME cry. The delivery scene had to be re-written because I actually didn't want Clark to make it in time. However, unlike PS3 I listened to popular demand and changed it, and I'm so glad I did because it turned out even better!
"laughed at the snark and sighed happily at the I do's."
After all the crap they went through, they deserved a happy ending, don't you think? ;-)
"I hope that you will do follow up one-shots or perhaps a series with Kallie involved...or another baby on the way. :)"
Oh, definitely. I'm just waiting till after the finale airs before I get started. I'm bouncing a few ideas around in my head, and I'll let you know when they make it to paper!
"Thanks so much for writing. I really enjoyed this piece."
*beams like a headlamp* So glad you liked it. Thanks so much for reading, and thanks to Elly for reccing me!

A sequel or two is actually in the works, and I intend to start work on it this week. Fingers crossed it'll be ready for the Jois prompt for Fun Fanon Fridays!

*squees* I really caught people out with that one! I'm just glad no-one sussed it before the big reveal. ;-)
"I really loved all the baby details along the way, and am so glad everyone got their happily ever after. Great job!"
So glad you liked it! I had just given birth to my second, I think, when I wrote this story, so a lot of the labour & delivery details were true. Needless to say, we're stopping at two! :-P
So glad you liked it, Jen. Thanks so much for your comments! :-D

I admit, they are an unconventional pairing, but in a weird way, they kind of work! :-)
" the over all story was sweet in some areas and honestly at first i thought she was being tortured not having a baby. then it dawned on me you did that on purpose, smart"
