I LOVED this! It was like watching a classic Chlark exchange back in the Torch, with Clark going all fidgety while Chloe corners him. Hee!
"“Don’t be,” he said, resting his hand over hers and brushing her hand with his thumb. “I’m not angry, not at all. If I’m to be totally honest, my heart was occupied as well.”
He and Lex have been having an affair for years. That's it, right? ;-)
"“But now it’s time for you to do what’s best for yourself and for Gabby,” he continued."
Because I'll be busy getting my back snapped like a twig by some maniac named Bane. So much on my to-do list!
“Tell Clark I said he’d better look after you both, or he’ll have me to answer to. And I mean that; I have the kryptonite to follow through.”
Ooh, excellent shout-out to the comics! He so DOES have the kryptonite kept at the ready!

Don't worry, he'll meet her right before she gets her head shaved in a French alleyway. It'll all work out! :-)
