I was absolutely stunned and shocked when I read the news yesterday. He was such a talented man and from all reports, a genuinely nice guy who didn't have a massive ego. We didn't just lose a great actor/comedian, we lost a great man.
I heard of a few celebs here who were absolutely devastated. They said he just loved NZ.
It's so, so sad that he was able to put smiles on millions of faces, yet he himself was never truly happy. God be with his family at this difficult time.
I'm absolutely heartbroken. His film and TV work were a huge part of my childhood and teen years. Such an amazing talent. Depression is a horrible horrible thing. And I really feel for his daughter- she's only a few months older than I am- what an awful age and way to lose a parent.
I can still barely believe he's dead. I found out at 2AM on the day and it just didn't register, then 6 hours later I just stopped what I was doing and went: "Oh my god. Robin Williams is dead."
